Looking for a floral mocktail recipe with edible flowers?

The best person I have found to fulfill this assignment is Punit Thakur from @veermasterberlin. He uses edible flowers for drinks and is not only an expert mixologist, but also uses his cocktail and mocktail creations to convey a special message or tell a story.

He has created this floral mocktail, flavored with his own homemade lavender and orange syrup, and rose water. Then it has been garnished with a unique edible flower garnish which is part of the story.

Floral Mocktail with a Special Message

“Everyone needs some motivation now & then. Sometimes it’s difficult to keep your spirits up and the smile on your face. Over the last few months, I was struggling with my plants and flowers, and many of my plants died and many of them are still not healthy. And without my flowers my cocktails look uninteresting and just simple. This makes me feel down and unmotivated. But I know this is what I do the best and this is what I want to do here for you all and for myself. No matter how people think about my cocktails and my garnishes, I love my work and I will continue doing it.”
Punit Thakur
Mixologist

These days there is much attention being given around mental health and general well being of individuals. There are many, many good things that happen to people but often these good things are overshadowed by a feeling of lack of self-worth or despair.

All the cocktails and mocktails that are created by Punit Thakur, are not only fabulous drinks, and masterpieces in edible flower garnish but they all tell a story or convey a special message.

This is his message about Self Love that inspired this floral mocktail:

“Everybody says that the key to your happiness is self love.

But what exactly is it? How do I practice self love?

This question has been coming up a lot lately.

For me self-love is to be kind to others as well as myself.

Live in the moment.

Being perfectly happy in my imperfection.

Setting healthy boundaries and saying no when I need to.

Showing up for myself even when I feel unmotivated.

Also, giving myself a break when needed.

Letting go of the things I can’t control and grateful for the things I have.

There are multiple ways in which you can create a love connection with yourself, and I believe that when you’re happy the world around you looks happier as well.

When there’s self-love your heart starts to blossom, your relationships flourish, your mental health gets better, and your work life doesn’t seem so boring and hectic anymore.

If you are not happy with yourself, nothing and nobody can make you happy otherwise.

So yes I really believe that ‘SELF LOVE’ is actually the key to unlock your happiness and spread love around you.

And this is my mocktail gift to you, to celebrate “Self Love”

Floral Mocktail Recipe Ingredients

The ingredients that Punit uses are specially chosen as part of the message he is conveying about Self Love.

Matcha Tea is the base ingredient, which is a form of green tea, but instead of just steeping the leaves, matcha is made by grinding the leaves into a powder and then mixed into the drink. It is well known for its health benefits and one of these is helping with depression and brain function. It is also high in antioxidants and has a wonderfully vibrant green color which can lift your mood.

Yuzu is another unusual ingredient used in this mocktail. Yuzu is part of the citrus family and the fruit has a refreshing tart but fragrant flavor being a mixture of lemon, mandarins and grapefruit. It is full of antioxidants which are very beneficial in aiding immunity.

The floral lavender and orange syrup is made using the lavender flower, which is well known for its calming effect, balanced with the flavor of oranges and rose water.

Edible Flower Garnish for Mocktails

The edible flower garnish is also a special part of the message.

The mocktail glass is topped with a round of matcha tea sponge cake, continuing the healthy theme with a cool green calming color. Then decorated with chamomile, dianthus (clove flower), apple blossom begonia,  and forget me nots. Add little strands of red chocolate for an extra special effect.

Pop a little hole in the centre of the sponge cake to allow a straw to be inserted. This means that whilst enjoying your mind calming mocktail you can continue to enjoy the fresh and elegant edible flower garnish.
