How Using Edible Flowers in Cocktails Can Help Boost Happy Thoughts
Using edible flowers in cocktails has created a whole new experience for me which has made me realize how wonderful flowers are for our mental health.
This new experience created by garnishing cocktails with edible flowers provided me with a sensation that goes beyond just drinking a cocktail.
Seeing these delicate blooms with my cocktail uplifted my spirits and each sip filled me with a sense of joy and tranquillity. Somehow the sight of flowers releases dopamine in our brains which is the feel-good chemical and one that we all crave at times.

Flowers Can Improve Your Mood and General Happiness
It has been shown in a number of recent studies that flowers have a very positive emotional impact on peoples wellbeing.
Some of these studies (see link above) have been carried out by Jeannette Haviland-Jones, Ph.D who is a professor of psychology at Rutgers University and the director of its Human Emotions Lab.
This was especially clear during the Covid era of lockdowns, when people were becoming more isolated and online sales of flowers went through the roof as people tried to compensate for feelings of depression, loneliness, and isolation.
Flowers have been found to have a long-term positive effect on people’s moods and attitudes and the studies have reported people feel less depressed and anxious after receiving or looking at flowers.
You only need to check out the face of someone who has just received flowers. There is always a big smile. I know I can’t help having a big smile whenever I see a beautiful flower, be it in the garden, on my plate or edible flowers in cocktails.

I didn’t actually notice the detail of the flavors in this cocktail at first, because my initial excitement over the flower garnish had a far greater effect on me!
Punit has used mainly petals to create a floral collar to his unusual cocktail glass. This spectacular garnish sends the message of excitement and anticipation to our brains through the sensory visual effects.
He has then used carrot leaves to add textural and color contrast to the flowers and completes the floral creation with a couple of lavender flower stems to compliment the lavender syrup he has used in the drink.
And the finishing touch with the inclusion of a glass bird just completes the cocktail for an absolute wow factor!
